Plan Your Trip

The Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center has over 100,000 animals to see and visit. The underwater Aquarium allows you to experience some of the world’s most unique aquamarine animal life. You can even watch some of the best educational documentaries right on Virginia’s largest screen.

Adventure Park

In addition to the massive aquamarine life, there is to explore and experience at the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center, there is also an adventure park. This eco-friendly zip line and aerial adventure experience are ideal for all ages!

The aerial forest park has a variety of climbing and zip lining adventures just waiting for you. The majestic trees near the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center’s Marsh Pavilion feature 15 trails that blend in and out of countless tree platforms on over 6 acres of land. The trails are clearly marked, so you know which ones are for more adventurous and experienced zip liners and which ones are suitable for the smaller kiddos. You can explore the park by yourself or with a group of your closest friends and family members. This makes it a great treat for birthday parties, school field trips, and even corporate events.

Children ages five and older are welcome to play on the zip lines and adults of all ages are easily accommodated as well.

Inside the actual aquarium, there are countless hands-on adventures to take part in. Hands-on exhibits allow you to touch and feel some of the ocean’s most incredible sea life. You can also take a visit through Virginia’s marshlands through a winding nature path.

Boat Trips

In addition to museum exhibits, you can also book a boat trip through the Virginia Aquarium. The boat trips teach you about coastal and marine environmental conservation, research, and preservation taking place along Virginia’s coastlines. Since 1989, the Aquarium has brought boat trips to the public with the help of experienced marine educators. Through each ride, visitors learn sustainable practices for interacting with the environment. Cost for boat rides is separate from your entry into the park itself.

Food At the Museum

The Aquarium also has its own trio of cafes to grab a bite to eat. They have the Aquarium Café, which is located in the Bay & Ocean Pavilion near the Nature Trail entrance and it offers standard lunch fare. The Theater Snack Stand gives you a quick bite to eat including your choice of pretzels, nachos, and candy. The Otter Snack Park is another great spot to grab a quick bite to eat while exploring the aquarium.

And if you’d like to catch a movie with your family, then check out their six-story giant theater screen they offer that is just for guests. They play only educational documentaries, but they’re nonetheless exciting.
